What is the Acton Children’s Business Fair?
The Acton Children’s Business Fair is the largest entrepreneurship event for children in North America. The one-day Business Fair is a culmination of ideas and hard work from great young minds. Children develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at our one-day marketplace. Experience young minds marketing, selling, counting money, and feeling accomplished!
Does the Acton Children’s Business Fair provide event insurance or offer any advice on this?
No, we do not. We do not offer legal or regulatory advice because rules vary so much from city to city. We recommend our hosts reach out to local authorities for more details.
How did the Acton Children’s Business Fair get started?
In 2007, Jeff and Laura Sandefer, along with a few other families, wanted to spark a sense of wonder and entrepreneurship in their children and the young children in their neighborhood. That year, there were SEVEN entrepreneurs and around 25 attendees. Now, there are over FIVE THOUSAND entrepreneurs and countless attendees.
Is the Acton Children’s Business Fair a Non-for-Profit Organization?
Yes, we are a non-profit. The Children's Business Fair Foundation is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization.
What is the process?
Young entrepreneurs first make an important decision: they hire themselves! They apply, and then begin to launch a product or service. The children plan their business at every level: product, service, marketing, accounting, cost of goods, pricing, etc. And in this process, they learn a sense of wonder, the importance of hard work, taking responsibility, and gaining confidence in the next challenge.

Entrepreneurs ages 6 to 17 may attend.
